My County Fair Entries for 2017

Hello, my friends! 😀

I know some of your were looking forward to seeing my fair entries and what prizes I won, so here you go! This is for you. 🙂

Here’s a picture of all my entries except the photos. It’s… kind of hard to tell what’s what, so let me show you a little more clearly…

A strange little octopus. 🙂

DSC_1511 (1280x853)

I like this one! Two little gnomes in a flower house. 🙂

DSC_1516 (1280x853)

Look how tiny he is!

DSC_1518 (1280x853)

A doughnut turtle! She’s so cute. 😀 (Also note you can find this and the previous three clay things at my Etsy shop.)

DSC_1521 (1280x853)

This is a lil’ hippo I made for my little sister’s birthday to hold trinkets and such. She said, “No, Allison, do you have to enter it? I need it to hold my things!” XD 😀

DSC_1523 (1280x853)

I also won a sweepstakes ribbon for ceramics, so that was really exciting!

DSC_1537 (1280x853)

I made this tissue paper flower from a DIY book.

DSC_1524 (1280x853)

These didn’t win a prize because I accidentally grabbed a falling-apart one from my collection. XD Oops.

DSC_1525 (1280x853)

I made this cute little elephant in a sewing class. It was rather hard to make, but I love how it turned out!

Just a bonus picture of a butterfly that was passing through. 😀

DSC_1528 (1280x853)

Here’s the picture of my friend Aria from the last post. Sadly, it didn’t win a prize. :/ Oh well! I like it anyway. 🙂

Strangely enough, this won third prize, even though I think the portrait was a lot better. Perhaps they were judging by creativity?

Okay, now for the photos I entered. I entered this in “Abstract,” but it didn’t win a prize.

This was for “Action.” It also didn’t win a prize.

I entered this in “Close-Up,” and it won first prize!

“Architecture,” and no prize.

“Artistic,” and it won third prize! 😀

“Humor,” and first prize! Heh heh, isn’t it funny? XD

And that’s all for this year! Altogether I believe I got 12 prize ribbons out of 21 things entered, plus one sweepstakes ribbon. Not too bad!

Well, I hope you enjoyed looking over a summary of the stuff I made and photos I took in a year’s time. 🙂 Do you like to enter things in your fair? Did you win any prizes?

Thanks for reading, my dears, and have a lovely day. ♥

***Allison***

P. S. Guys, please pray for the people in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the ones possibly in the path of Hurricane Irma. I can’t even imagine how hard it must be. We’ll keep you in our thoughts and prayers, friends! ♥

  1. I can’t believe some of those photos didn’t win! They’re awesome! I have experienced the same thing in the art category at my fair. They seem to judge it differently than I would have thought. Things that you think should win often don’t. Oh well!

    1. Thank you, Megan! Ha ha, I kind of felt the same way myself with some of them. The art and photography judging doesn’t seem very fair to me, but I guess they just have different criteria than I do. Anyway, I’m happy with what I won, so that’s good. 🙂
      Thanks again for commenting!

  2. LOL the fish one though. the pictures looked amazing! <33 definitely praying for those affected by the hurricanes xx
(also, question: the curly font on your featured image–what's it called? sorry I'm like on a font collecting spree!)

  3. Wow, you won a lot of ribbons! Congratulations, Allison! 🙂 I’m so glad that the photo you entered in the rural place category won a prize-it’s a gorgeous photo.
How many different categories were there for little creations? I was just wondering, because you won more than one first premium (is that basically just first prize?) with your fun little clay things.
Also, what’s a sweepstakes ribbon? Sorry, I don’t have much knowledge of fairs. 😛

    1. Hee hee, I guess I did! I was actually kind of surprised that won a prize, but I knew that a lot of you all liked it so I figured maybe the judges would too. 😉
There were maybe ten different categories for the clay things, (plus more categories for pottery, I think), and then there were a ton of other categories for crafts and sewing and such. And yep, first premium is just first prize. 😉
Oh yeah, I guess I should have explained that. A sweepstakes ribbon means you got the most prizes or did the best overall in one category. So I did the best overall in ceramics! 😀
Ha ha, no problem. 😉 Thanks for commenting!

      1. Hehe, well I don’t blame you for being surprised, even though it’s a great photo; I would be extremely surprised if I won a photo contest like that.
Whoa, that’s a lot of categories for clay things!
Ooh, I get it. That makes sense, and that’s so cool that you did the best in the ceramics category! Congrats again! 🙂

        1. XD Yeah, I was quite pleased to win the photography and art categories especially because they have a lot of competition.
Yep it is! Although I was just guessing… I don’t precisely remember. 😉
          Thanks again! 😀

  4. Those looks awesome, Allison! I love your photo for the artistic category!
Also, thank you for the prayers about the hurricanes. I live in Texas and though my family was not affected by the hurricane, we have a lot of friends that were.

You’re so welcome! I’m really glad you guys were safe, and I can’t imagine how hard it must be for the people who were affected.

  6. I’m so upset; this didn’t appear in my email!! That happens to me a lot. *sigh* But that’s really, really, cool! We have something similar in our city. It isn’t a country fair it’s just Derby Days. They’re pretty fun! Our Church has Heidelfest too, which is basically a fair!

  7. Wow! How beautiful! I loved all your entries and I wish you had won more prizes, if I had been the judge I would have given you champion on everything! 😉 I think your portrait of your friend definitely deserved Champion, it was perfect! 😀

I loved seeing your entries! 😀
