Meet Nellie {Baby Goat Cuteness}

Hello, dears!

Just in case you’re tired of bad news, dire warnings, and thinking that the world is falling apart… here’s a little post to remind you there’s still happiness in the world. 🙂 In this case, it comes in the form of my little sister and her absolutely adorable new pet.

Carmen just bought a baby dwarf goat (so she’s extra tiny), named her Nellie, and HELP. THE CUTENESS OVERLOAD IS REAL. I will say that I normally don’t care for goats, but I’m not sure it’s possible to dislike Nellie. She’s the friendliest, sweetest goat I have ever encountered – she’s basically a dog or a cat – and… well, the pictures will have to do the rest. 😉

Ready for a smile?

Now presenting… Nellie the Adorable!

DSC_3851 2

AHHH. She’s so tiny – just about the size of a small dog – and what makes that even better is she seems to think she IS a dog, or maybe a little person. Certainly not a goat. 😛

DSC_3880

However, dogs don’t eat leaves and goats do, so… heh.

DSC_3883

Seriously, though, she is SO sweet and affectionate! She’s quite happy and content when she’s with people, and starts bleating sadly when you put her back in her pen and desert her.

DSC_3896

We can let her out and even take her on walks with no harness or anything – she obediently trots after you and starts racing toward you in panic if you get too far ahead. :’D

DSC_3902

At first Maggie (our dog) chased her around, but eventually, and somewhat miraculously, we managed to get them used to each other so now they can both be outside with us! Although sometimes Maggie gets jealous of our attention and inserts herself into the situation. XD XD She decided Carmen was playing with Nellie too much and decided to come over and photobomb for a minute.

DSC_3904

Those tiny horns, though…

DSC_3929 2

HAHA, Carmen’s smiling up at her adoringly and Nellie looks so smug here, like, “I know, I know.”

DSC_3934

It’s pretty funny when you run away from Nellie because she’ll take off after you and Maggie, not to be outdone, takes off after HER, resulting in an amusing scene something like this…

DSC_3938

Carmen, needless to say, is over the moon. She would probably sleep with her if she could, but Mom has drawn the line at letting Nellie in the house for short periods. 😛

DSC_3913

EEP I LOVE THIS PICTURE. SO FUZZY.

DSC_3982

She has those rectangular goat pupils I usually find creepy, but the rest of her makes up for them. 😛

DSC_3964 2

She’s not afraid to ask for attention. I was laying down in the field while taking photos and she just hopped on top of me. :’D

DSC_3967

You do have to be careful, though, because she seems to find clothes and fabric quite tasty…

DSC_3969

HAHA, this picture! Carmen carried her this way until Nellie wiggled around and righted herself.

DSC_4002

OH MY. Is this photo disturbing to you too? O.o SHE LOOKS LIKE AN ALIEN. :’D

DSC_4005

Ahem. I think I’ll end on a cuter photo. I loveeee this one. It pretty much sums up Carmen and Nellie together. 🙂 ❤

Welp, there you go, my friends. You’re welcome for filling your cuteness-meter for the day! I’m sure Nellie will be appearing in more blog posts in the future, so drop a comment if you have an idea for what kinds of posts or photoshoots I should do with her! And… that’s all for today. Just remember that the world is still beautiful and our good God is still in control. ❤ Feel free to chat below and tell me your thoughts!

Is Nellie adorable or is she adorable? Which photo was your favorite? What is your opinion on goats? 😛

Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day!

  1. Nellie is adorable. How is having a goat for a pet different from having, say a dog? I am curious about where she sleeps, and if she gets amused by toys like dogs do. But thank you for this post, a needful distraction in challenging times such as these.

    1. She really is! Well, we keep her in a stall or pen, kind of like we do our rabbits, but take her out and about regularly, like a dog. We haven’t tried many toys yet – she mostly enjoys just being with us! And you’re so welcome. ❤

  2. Awww yes, this was wonderful, thank you so much Allison! It’s terrible, everything is being cancelled, Costco is out of stock of everything important, and people are going crazy. But as long as God is still God, we’ll be okay. 🙂 AND as long as there are still baby goats like Nellie!! She’s adorable! It looks like she and your sister are good friends. <33

You knew exactly what we all needed. Thank you. ❤
    We're all in this together.

    1. THANK YOUU! Ugh, I know. But exactly! We should treat the coronavirus with caution, but NOT panic. I’m so thankful we serve a God bigger than any disease. Hee hee, yes, and having a cute goat helps. 😉 They sure are!

  3. This is exactly what I needed to see in my inbox today, it’s a good change from a bunch of disappointing and worrisome news articles and emails from all sorts of places and festivals that are being canceled. Thank you! 🙂 Maybe I should do a post with my hedgehog, we just might need more happy posts. 😀

  6. I am not usually too fond of goats, but I do have to say that that one is a particularly cute specimen! How big will she get?

    1. Same here! I’m not exactly sure, but she will be smaller than a regular goat since she’s a Nigerian Dwarf. I will have to keep you updated. 😉

  10. Maybe you could do a post about Nellie winning the Cutest Goat in the World award! XD XD That last picture of Carmen and Nellie is so precious! I’ve never had any goats, but the neighbor had some that I loved to play with when I was little. The fainting goats are so funny! 🙂

Hope you and your family are doing fine.

        1. Oh good! Ha ha, well I can relate to that. 😉 Except, sadly, most if not all of the events that got cancelled for us were ones with friends that I was looking forward to. :/ Oh well, at least now I have extra time to do stuff at home like I’m always complaining I don’t have!

  12. Nellie is so cute! What’s up with animals thinking they’re other animals? My dog thinks he’s a parrot, because he likes to sit upon people’s shoulders.

  13. Hi Allison! This is the cutest post ever. It’s nice to see something so positive and innocent in these trying times. I didn’t know that goat’s had horns! And I absolutely agree that God is in control. And I truly have faith that he eliminate all the conditions that we are dealing with. Stay healthy and positive!🌸

Psalms 83:18:May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Jeremiah 29:11:For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’ declares Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope.

    1. Well thank you! *sigh* Yes. ❤ I'm glad you enjoyed it. YES, exactly! And even if or when He takes longer to eliminate this disease than we wish, he is no less a good Author of this story for the fact that we can't quite follow the plot while we're in it! Thanks for the comment, Shonnie.
