A Sparkling Photoshoot {Macro Raindrops}

Hello, dears!

I’m back again with some photography while we wait to see who won the giveaway! 😉 Hee hee. But guys, thank you all SO much for your wonderful comments and excitement about my book – I can’t tell you how much it means to me. ❤ I’ll link the recent blog tour posts at the end of this post, but for now… how about some macro raindrop photography?

I must say, this photoshoot includes some of my favorite nature pictures I’ve taken in a while – and they’re not even autumn-themed. Shocking! XD I hope you enjoy this refreshing dose of bejeweled webs, garden plants, and flowers.

Let’s start with a lonely red tomato. 😛 Yay for tomatoes in October! Usually our tomato plants get a blight or disease and perish suddenly, but they’ve mostly been healthy (despite the brown leaves here – oops XD), and we haven’t had a frost this season yet either.

Capturing raindrops or dewdrops with my macro extension tubes is one of my favorite things ever. Water drops are so beautiful and clear; I love the swirling colors.

Isn’t it neat how plants with fuzzy hairs look silver after a rain? So many baby water drops all lined up. 😛

Unfortunately, our limas didn’t turn out as well as the tomatoes did. The plants are quite healthy, but the lima beans themselves didn’t grow! *sigh* Next year, I guess.

I used to not care for marigolds, but they’re so pretty and rich and ruffly that I like them more now. And GUYS. THE BOKEH.

Ooh, I like this one. My youngest sister, Carmen, planted a huge sunflower in her flower garden which has since bent over and turned a withered black. The morning I took these photos, it was beautiful, outlined with silver sun and steaming with swirls of mist. Doesn’t it look kind of like a hunched old man in a winter coat, his breath fogging up the cold air?

So, did you notice that glowing greenish hump behind the sunflower up there? That’s asparagus! Carmen came in from outside and told me, “the asparagus looks SO pretty with the raindrops on it – you should take a picture!” And I was just about to do so.

GUYYYYSSS. The ferny asparagus plants were just loaded with water drops, lit from behind by the morning sun, and the silvery blaze made for some magical, almost wintry looking photos.

HELP ME THE BOKEH IS SO PRETTY. Some are even rainbow colored!

This picture definitely reminds me of the minty field photoshoot I did a while ago. Ahh, such a pretty shade!

I also got tons of spiderweb pictures. In my opinion, a dew-laden spiderweb is one of the most beautiful pieces of nature there is.

Don’t you just love how it looks like these lines of drops are floating in the sky?

Ahhh, the colors of the background! ❤ I purposely centered this picture over a ripening tomato. 😉

I love how sharp yet creamy this drop looks. It’s really, really tricky to focus on a single drop like this one with the manual-focus extension tubes I use, so this photo took me quite a few tries and a steady hand, but it was worth it. 🙂

Okay, this is definitely one of my favorites in the post. THAT DEWDROP. It looks like a crystal pendant at the end of a necklace!

We shall end with a couple of flower photos because, surprisingly, we still have some left even this far into fall!

The main reason I like this picture is because of the sparkly bokeh scattered around. It makes the flower seem so much prettier and fresher!

Ahh, that was fun. I hope those pictures could bring a bit of beauty and nature into your day. Don’t forget to look for the little things, especially the way dewdrops shake glitter over everything. Because everyone needs more glitter, right? 😀

      GAHHH I KNOW! That color is just gorgeous.
      And ooh yes, I like that one too!
      I know, it’s strange that we haven’t had frost! HA HA, YEAH. It does look rather sad, but also super neat to see the fog/mist/whatever it was coming off of it.

    Oh my GOSH, the asparagus pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I seriously can’t wrap my head around it. AND ALL OF THE WONDERFUL SPARKLY BOKEH MAKES MY HEART HAPPY!! I could stare at these all day!
    I can’t wait to see who wins the giveaway! I wanted to enter it, but rafflecopter giveaways never seem to load for me. Sometimes they do after several days. :[] I’m still holding on though, in hopes that it will. 🙂
