Explore with Me 001 | Golden Hour Walk

Hello, dears!

I don’t know about you, but I spend WAY too much time on the computer. I could give a lot of good excuses, some of which are legitimate, but still, the fact remains. I do love being outside and especially exploring our land with my family, but I don’t have much motivation to go outside by myself because it feels like such a waste of time when I could be doing many more useful things inside. Anyone else??

But. Yesterday I was tired of being on a screen and it looked beautiful out there, so I decided to give myself a break and take my camera and just walk around. And it was lovely. Sometimes a breath ofย  fresh air is useful in itself, right?

I hope these pictures can inspire you to take a screen break (after this post, of course ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and find some beauty where you live!

Maggie wanted to come along with me, as always I think she’d been wading in the pond because she was rather wet and gross-looking. But still cute. ๐Ÿ˜‰walk 4.jpg

I didn’t try to point myself in any particular direction at first, but wandered around down to the pond.

Ahh, the beautiful light!

I love this picture. ๐Ÿ™‚ Maggie just looks extra cute at golden hour since her fur goes so well with the pretty yellow light!

A fun challenge to do if you’re taking a walk with a camera is to look for ugly spots and try to take beautiful or at least interesting photos of them. Of course, taking a walk in the morning or at golden hour certainly helps because of the perfect lighting. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dried pokeweeds aren’t particularly beautiful… usually. But they look very autumnal and I loved the way the tangled spiderwebs caught the light, like the weeds were tied with sun-thread.

As you can see, the duckweed on our pond hasn’t exactly disappeared yet. -_- It’s so thick and green now that it almost looks like golf course turf or something! ๐Ÿ˜›

My mom came down to the pond while I was taking pictures, to get some pond water for a nature study. It’s fascinating to look at under a microscope!

Ahh, I love this picture! The elements of the green canoe, rough wooden dock, cattail rushes, and backlit plants go together so well in my opinion. ๐Ÿ™‚

Whoa, the water looks extra strange in this picture! It looks like the pond has turned into a vat of mint green paint. ๐Ÿ˜› I had to get a photo of the way the light changed the duckweed.

I originally wanted to get some fall photos for another playlist post, but GUYS. It was almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday! HELP, WHERE IS FALL? Summer so far has been like a stubborn toddler who keeps extending his tantrum for no reason except that he doesn’t want to stop being angry. The weather just won’t give up being hot and dry, and it’s exhausting. I think fall is coming, though. It’s supposed to only be in the 80s today! Yay! ๐Ÿ˜›

Fun fact: gnats look like glitter when the light is right. See the sparkles around these sycamore leaves? ๐Ÿ˜›

I think cattails are such an odd and interesting plant! They’re also fun to photograph. ๐Ÿ™‚

walk 17

I was so excited to find this messy patch of tiny, white flowers! They make for great photography subjects.

walk 18

Ahh, we’ll end with this one. This is one of my favorite kinds of photography! It’s also about the last picture I got on my walk since the sun went down all at once after this. It was weird.

walk 16

Ahh, these pictures make me happy. I hope you enjoyed them too! And more than that, I hope they inspired you to not just look at outdoor pictures but go and take a walk yourself! I’m going to try and do this more often; I have a bunch of ideas for what to do other than just take pictures, too, so I can’t wait to try those out. ๐Ÿ™‚

Which photo did you like best? What tips do you have for getting outside more? Does anyone else feel like it’s a waste of time or is that just me?

Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day!

Though all the photographs are excellent, I just love the one that has Maggie looking somewhere away from the camera and the last one!๐Ÿ˜โค

  3. Lovely photos! Haven’t managed to keep up with your recent posts very well lately but I’m glad I didn’t miss this one. I completely relate to wanting to go outside but being able to get useful things done inside! Been meaning to take a walk up the hill by my house for two months straight and haven’t found the time!
