Party at the Park

Hello, dears!

A couple of weeks ago, we went to a gorgeous park near where we live to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It was kind of like an arboretum, with elaborate gardens and landscaping, as well as more natural looking areas. Everything was in full bloom and full life and ahh, it was gorgeous! The perfect place for picnicking and exploring.

About half the photos I’m going to show you guys today are nature photos – blossoming trees, waterfalls, etc. The other half is not as beautiful but WAY more amusing photos of my friends jumping rope. And this isn’t your ordinary kind of jump rope, guys. XD XD

Ahem, now that you’re prepared, let’s get to it!

We shall start with some nature photos. After a picnic and some games, we dispersed to the Italian garden which included many rows of brightly colored flowers like these brilliant orange tulips.

It also had a neat pillared walkway thingy. You can sort of see it in the background here; sadly I didn’t get a very good picture of it because people were in the way. :/ That’s the annoying thing about a public park, huh? XD

Blooming trees were scattered EVERYWHERE, and this ornamental cherry (maybe??) was my favorite. My sister Carmen raced up, rather hot and sweaty, to smell the flowers while I was photographing them. 😛

Oh my goodness, these photos just make me happy every time I see them. *heart eyes*

I LOVE SPRIIIIIIIINNNG.

spring party (13)

Just a couple of marooned turtles looking in vain for a ship to save them. :’D

Don’t these Japanese dogwood leaves look like fall? Such a pretty, buttery yellow. And yep, that’s a waterfall in the background! Keep scrolling…

spring party (14)

Ta-daa! Even though it’s a fairly small, man-made waterfall, it’s still beautiful. I just love water. We had SO much fun climbing around on the boulders, cooling ourselves off in the spray, and sailing shoes between the rocks. XD

Megan kinda got soaked by standing next to the spray for a long time. I wasn’t surprised. 😛

Now for the fun photos! One of the families brought a couple of neon pink cords/jump ropes. And guess what? Kids (and teenagers) + string is an even better recipe than kids + cardboard boxes! Two people held the rope taut while everyone else took turns jumping over the progressively higher rope, trying not to touch it or fall in the meantime. Kind of like reverse limbo. This produced some interesting expressions and contortions. :’D

After a little while of jumping singly, my photographer friend and I asked if several of the kids could line up horizontally and jump over the rope at once. They were quite happy to oblige, although some of them look a bit fierce here. :’D

spring party (23)

You might need to zoom up to see the faces in this one, but HA, isn’t it great? I wish it wasn’t such flat, cloudy lighting so the quality would be better. :/

spring party (26)

After that, we went back to jumping one at a time, and I got SO MANY fun shots, hee hee! I’m not going to comment on all of these, so just enjoy scrolling through these “flying” humans. XD

This one looks REALLY weird. :’D

And we shall end with probably the record jump, set by my brother Logan who can jump really, REALLY high. It doesn’t look as high the way I cropped it, but in real life it sure was. 😉

Ha ha, those were so fun to photograph. (Although a pain to edit.) I hope they brought a smile to your face too!

Which photo was your favorite? Do you like people photography or nature photography better (yikes, that’s a hard question)? How do you think you would do at the jumping game?

Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day!

  1. HAHAHAHAHA I SERIOUSLY BURST OUT LAUGHING SEVERAL TIMES. OOH, PRETTY CHERRY BLOSSOMS. But the jumping pictures were the best, quite honestly. THAT WAS SO ENTERTAINING. Also GOOD JOB at getting the focus so sharp! That’s hard.

    1. BAHAHAHA I’M NOT SURPRISED. BUT I’M GLAD TO HEAR IT. And thanks, dear! Honestly the focus wasn’t that sharp in some of them, which is why I HDR-ed the jumping people (thus adding many minutes of editing time :[]). It seemed to have worked, though! 😉

  8. I absolutely adored the ‘flying’ people! Didn’t you fly? Sorry, that sounded really weird! XD I mean, didn’t you jump rope? The pictures of the flowers and nature were aesthetically pleasing!💕

    1. HAHA, YES. I loved that too! Well I did jump rope a little bit but I wasn’t taking pictures of myself; plus by that time they had moved on to a very complicated course which didn’t work as well since the rope holders kept spinning the ropes. O.o XD Aww, thank you so much!
