~ Fields of Purple ~

Hello, dears!

I’ve loved purple basically my whole life, so I was thrilled to see a little “meadow” of purple henbit pop up in one of our fields. Henbit is rather an ugly weed up close, but from the right perspective it can be stunning – so of course, I set off with my camera to find and capture that right perspective. 😉

My little sister and I went to explore it one morning, but sadly I can’t find the pictures from that day. 😦 At least I still have these pictures (which are probably better anyway) from more recently to show you guys! This will be a short and sweet post, but I hope you enjoy all this sun-soaked purple as I have. 🙂

First, a far away view so you can get the big picture. This angle makes the patch look tiny, but trust me it was a LOT of henbit: some spread over hills you can’t see here. Look how bright and dense the color is!

The early morning sun made for beautiful golden-hour-like lighting which I was super happy about. Isn’t it neat how the sun rays look purple in this picture too?

purple 4

Maggie accompanied me on this photoshoot, posing for some nice backlit shots before we started. 😉

purple 2

HAHA, this photo cracks me up. :’D Maggie was kicking up some grass, but she looks like she’s doing ballet or something, doesn’t she? HA.

The beginning of spring is hard because the bare trees kind of spoil the effect of whatever green things are growing elsewhere. If the woods were leafy here, it would look like summer! AHHH, I can’t wait.

purple 1

Maggie was quite pleased with this meadow too. She trotted all over the field, wagging her tail and sniffing around. 😀 (Also this picture is one of my favorites.)

purple 5

Ahhh, the light! Can you see the dew-bokeh at the bottom of this photo? More of that to come, obviously. 😉

purple 6

Now THIS looks like spring. *heart eyes* I just made it my desktop background. 😀

purple 7

I absolutely love this picture! The bright bokeh sprinkled all around adds such a sparkly, playful effect to the already brilliant colors.

purple 8

AHH I LOVE THIS TOO. Look, there’s even one rainbow bokeh! 😛

purple 9

All this purple just makes my heart happy. *grins*

purple 10

I don’t really have anything to say about this photo… I did about all the others, but I don’t want to take this out to make it even. OH WAIT! Problem fixed. Hee hee.

purple 11

This one’s a little overexposed, but I rather like it that way. In my opinion, it’s better to err on the side of too bright than too dark in photography. Although if you’re planning to edit a photo, shooting it a little dark preserves detail to bring out later in editing, while the details in a white-washed photo are not as easily recovered.

purple 12

We shall end with this mediocre but amusing picture of Eeyore the donkey who wanted to explore with us. She had to settle for gazing forlornly at us from her pen. 😛

purple 13

I hope you enjoyed these photos, my friends! I’ll have to post the ones with Carmen in them if I ever find them. *shakes head* Meantime…

Which photo was your favorite? What is your favorite color? What does it look like Maggie’s doing in the “ballet” photo to you? XD

Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day!

  1. Love the sparkly bokeh photos! What lens did you use for these? They are great! 🙂 My favorite color is either a light purple, teal, or light yellow or pink–ahh I don’t know. 🙂 LOL! 😉 I’ll decide on light purple!

    1. Thanks, Annie! I love sparkly bokeh too. 😀 Well, for the close-up ones I used my macro lens extension tubes on my 35 mm, and just the 35 mm for the others. 🙂 Ooh, those are all lovely choices and look lovely together, hee hee! But light purple is a great favorite. 😉

      1. You’re welcome! Huh, a macro lens extension can go on any lens?? That’s super neat! How much are they? I like the 35mm Nikon lens a lot. 🙂 Haha, thanks!!! 😉

        1. Well not ANY lens, but any of the lenses it’s compatible with! The macro lens extension tube kit I have was only, like, $12 on Amazon! I would recommend them, although they are pretty tricky to use and take some getting used to. YES, I love my 35 mm lens too!

    1. Nope, I took them with my DSLR, a Nikon d3400. 😀 They would look MUCH worse if I took them with my phone because I’m sure not a phone photographer. :’D I’m so glad you liked the pictures, Maria!

  6. Ooooh, I like all of them! The purple flowers are so pretty! Why do people think this plant is ugly?
    TURQUOISE! And pink. 😉
Haha it DOES look like Maggie is doing ballet! Or ice skating or yoga or something? Or just trying to look majestic for your photo. XD

    1. Ahhh thanks! I know, right? The level of detail and beautiful color are amazing. Weeds are great if they’re not actually taking over a garden or something. 😛 Ooh, turquoise is one of my favorites too! Actually I just like colors in general. XD
HAHA, yoga is a good choice. :’D

  9. Ooh, I love these photos! Haha, it’s looking a lot more springy for you than me. XD Living on the West Coast, we have lots of pine trees which take away a lot of sun for the more…well…springy trees. 😛 But aha! It’s called henbit! We get a lot of that over here – but that’s more like in April or May – and I never knew what it was called!

  10. We have those flowers all around my house too but not in pretty patches.
My favorite is the first picture of the whole field! It made me think of Scotland and the heather. ❤
And I quite like the last one as well. The way the sun rays flood it and is a bit purplish is lovely.
