Bubbles, Selfies, and Strange Goings-On

Hello, dears!

I was originally going to post a “Moving On” episode, but I’ve been doing a lot of complicated, less lifestyle-ish posts lately and I felt in the mood for a good ol’ photography post – one of my favorite kinds to read AND write. 🙂 So I’ll save the moving post for a later date, and hopefully you enjoy these various portrait photoshoots in the meantime! 😀

Bubbles

One day when the sun was setting and it was lovely and golden outside, I asked my littlest sister Carmen if she wanted to do a bubble photoshoot with me. She agreed somewhat reluctantly, but started having fun once we commenced, as usual. XD

It was fun, but VERY difficult. The hardest part was getting the bubbles in focus. I could have used a higher f-stop, but I wanted the nice blurred background and… anyway, these are only a fraction of the photos I actually took. XD

Another difficulty was that the bubble wand handle was broken and we kept having to fish the rest of it out with a, um, small scissors. Why didn’t we use a tweezers? You know, I’m not really sure. XD Maybe we couldn’t find it, I forget. Anyway, it worked… sort of. 😛

After Carmen got too cold and went in, I attempted to take pictures of just bubbles by myself. IT WAS EXTRAORDINARILY HARD. The wind always blew the wrong way at the wrong time, just as I clicked the button, of course. *sigh* Oh well, out of perhaps at least a hundred, I DID get a few good ones. Two, in fact. *weak smile* I do love the color, though! (They aren’t edited.)

Selfies

Guys, I practically NEVER take selfies (although I do use the self-timer occasionally). Why? Probably mostly because it’s such a  stereotypical teenager thing to do, and thus I don’t (XD). Anyway, the other day I found a charming patch of speedwell, a weed with adorable tiny blue flowers, and decided hey, why not. 😛

Oooops, didn’t exactly point my camera at the right spot… but it works! XD

Strange Goings-On

My sister Megan and her friend MacRae do very strange things together. Trust me on this – VERY strange. Like taking rocks for a walk or racing earthworms. I don’t know if Megan wants me to tell the reason behind these pictures yet or not, so for now let’s just say it’s another of their interesting ideas which they wanted me to photograph. Heh.

That blob of fur in MacRae’s lap is my rabbit Willow. XD

GOOD JOB, WILLOW. Escape is obviously the best option here. I don’t know what Megan’s doing here… contemplating the taste of a spoonful of mayonnaise? XD

P. S. Speaking of bunnies, I have some sad news… Diamond and Lily are gone. 😦 Lily was got really sick so we had to put her down, and I don’t know what happened to Diamond – maybe she just died of old age or something. *sad sigh* I’m really glad we still have the other four bunnies, though, and hopefully we can have baby bunnies again soon! But… RIP Lily and Diamond. 😦

  2. Oh, my goodness – I absolutely ADORE the golden hour/bubble pictures – they are masterpieces! Bubbles are gorgeous, aren’t they? Hehe, I love the selfie of you winking. XD Oh my, Megan and McRae are very strange. XD No offense, Megan! XDDD Willow looks lovely in a mustache! Oh, I’m sorry about Lily and Diamond. :,( Rest In Peace. ❤

    1. Ahh THANK THEE. I love them too! Yesss, bubbles are incredible. 🙂 We found some in the basement of our old house yesterday when we were packing and Megan and I couldn’t stop blowing them. XD Hee hee, thanks. YES THEY ARE. Oh don’t worry, I think she likes being strange. 😛 Hee hee. XD Aww, thank you. RIP bunnies. ❤

  4. I loved the photos! But, what in the world are Megan and her friend doing??? Is that…WINDOW CLEANER??? That’s poisonous! I hope nobody gets any bad ideas, maybe you should have put a disclaimer… anyway, I loved all of them and poor Willow looked flustered, hehe. Carmen is so cute, I loved the bubble shots. 🙂

        I take pictures with my iPad mini. *cue gasps* I really wanted a camera for christmas, but I probably should have been more specific because I ended out with a camcorder. XDXD

  12. I love the bubbles pictures, Allison (Carmen is a great poser)! I totally empathize with you about how you couldn’t get the bubbles to be in focus, though. A few weeks ago I was taking pictures of some of my jewelry, and it was so hard to focus on it!
    And haha, poor Willow. I hope she’s not too traumatized. 😉
    But that’s so very sad that Lily and Diamond died! I hope you get more baby bunnies soon.

    The bubble pictures are beautiful! You should put them in a contest or something.

  26. Amazing photo shoot! The one of the bubble popping is really cool! Also the two after that! I have gotten a really cool picture before and I wasn’t expecting it to happen, and it turned out awesome! It was a ladybug on my brother’s arm and both sets of it’s wings were spread and ready to fly! 😀 Then immediately after I took the picture it flew away.
    I like the pictures you took of the bubbles after your sister went inside, the color looks fantastic!
    Those Speedwell flowers are adorable!! I hardly ever take selfies either. You are so pretty! 🙂

  29. My favorite picture is the seventh one from the top, it’s so pretty! Willow is very fluffy! Do you have to brush her a lot? My rabbit wouldn’t even have lasted for one picture, she hates being held. 😆

    1. Aww, thanks! Hee hee, she IS! Well I should probably brush her more… but I don’t. 😉 Sometimes we trim her fur when it gets unkempt, but she’s pretty good at taking care of it herself for the most part. Ooh, you have a rabbit? Aww, that’s too bad. 😦

    Your bubble photos are beautiful and Carmen is so cute! I actually took some bubble photos with Abram a few weeks ago, and I agree – it’s REALLY hard to focus on them. I got maybe… 3 good pictures out of over 100. XD

      1. I have friends who have bunnies, and one of them lost their baby bunny…. I think she said his name was Blue, and she was going to enter him to the fair for 4-H, but then he died, so she didn’t enter a bunny.

          1. Yeah, but she got another bunny named Stormy now. I have never had a bunny, but I’ve had goats and cows and pigs (one of the pigs lived in the house because the mom would step on him).
